Almost every guest on our boat starts the same way: fly to Sorong (SOQ), then join a liveaboard. Here is the practical path we use for Raja Ampat Adventures pickups — from airport to Tanjung Seget and onto the water.
1. Fly to Sorong
Domestic connections usually come via Jakarta, Makassar, Manado, or other Indonesian hubs. Build a buffer night in Sorong if your international arrival is tight — bags and delays happen. We can suggest simple hotels near the waterfront.
2. Papers before you sail
Budget time (and cash plan) for the Raja Ampat PIN fee and visitor ticket. We brief you on current steps before departure so you are not sorting permits while the crew waits to cast off.
3. Transfer to Tanjung Seget
Our classic departures leave from the Seget / Tanjung Seget area rather than a long ferry-hop hotel shuffle. We arrange or coordinate land transfer from Sorong so you board with the group, get the safety briefing, and start the Dampier Strait or Misool crossing with daylight in mind.
4. What about Waisai?
Waisai on Waigeo is useful for land-based stays and some day trips. For Wayag and Misool liveaboards, sleeping aboard from a Sorong-side departure is usually more efficient — dawn is already near the reefs.
5. Timing tips from a local operator
- Arrive Sorong at least the afternoon before embarkation when possible.
