Before every departure I brief guests on paperwork so nobody is surprised at the dock. Budget for the Raja Ampat PIN fee (marine park conservation card) plus the separate regency visitor ticket. They are two official charges — not one — and both support conservation and local tourism infrastructure.

1. Marine park entry permit (PIN / environmental service fee)

Often called the PIN or marine park tag. For international visitors it is typically around IDR 700,000; Indonesian citizens pay a lower rate (around IDR 425,000). Validity is usually 12 months from issue. Buy online via the park authority or in person in Waisai / Sorong. Keep the card or digital proof with your passport.

2. Visitor entry ticket (regency tourism levy)

A separate fee managed by the Raja Ampat Regency. International visitors currently pay about IDR 1,000,000 per visit; domestic visitors about IDR 300,000. Children under 12 are generally exempt. This is usually settled around Waisai / arrival processing and is not a substitute for the PIN.

What you will actually pay (international guest)

On entry, expect roughly IDR 1.7 million for both official fees combined (PIN + visitor ticket). Rates can change — always confirm current figures with your operator or the official BLUD / regency channels before you fly. We update guests by WhatsApp when rules shift.

Fees that are not the “PIN”

Some villages and customary sea areas collect small local contributions. Liveaboards may also face harbour dues. On our packages we explain clearly what is already included versus what you settle yourself — transparency is part of being a trusted local guide.
